Vimanas, Ancient Flying Machines?
Supposedly, ancient Indian texts describe massive flying machines, with propulsion systems and propellers. Where does such a claim come from, and is the source valid?

A Vimana is a large palace, typically designated for royalty. The word Vimana means, having been measured out, which is a reference to the intricacy of construction. While Vimanas are mentioned throughout Hindu texts, their ability of flight is only referenced from the Vimanika Shastra.

The Vimanika Shastra was supposedly dictated ca 1920, and was first recorded in 1954, about 70 years ago. According to Regal, author of Regal's Pseudoscience: A Critical Encyclopedia, vimanas are one of the common attempts to fit elements of ancient cultures into contemporary narratives. When put under scrutiny, the Vaimānika Shāstra "comes off as jibberish".
